Huawei’s sub-brand Honor announced its latest budget smartphone, the Honor V9 at an event in China on Wednesday, September 6. The new Honor ‘V series’ handset is priced starting at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 9,800).
In terms of specifications, the Honor V9 Play features a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 resolution) display with 2.5D curved glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 paired with Mali T860 GPU. The phone comes in two RAM options-3GB RAM+32GB storage and 4GB RAM+32GB native storage. Internal storage can be expanded further up to 128GB using microSD slot.
Design-wise, the V9 Play sports an all metal body with curved edges and fine antenna lines running on top and bottom of the rear panel. The phone has thin bezels on both the sides with honor logo put at the bottom of the display. The circular fingerprint sensor is placed beneath the rear camera module. The power button and volume keys are located on the right edge of the device.
On the software front, the phone runs EMUI 5.1 based Android 7.0 Nougat OS. As for the camera, the Honor V9 Play carries a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash support, PDAF, and 5P lens. Up front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh battery that is rated to offer 16 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time. Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, GLONASS, Micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
The Honor V9 Play comes in five colour options- Gold, Rose Gold, Red, Blue, and Black. The V9 Play 3GB RAM model is priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 9,800) while the 4GB RAM variant comes for a cost of CNY 1,119 (around Rs. 11,700). The handset is already up for pre-order and it will be made available for purchase in China starting September 12.
