Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is gearing up for the launch of a new mid-range smartphone, the Honor V9 Play. The Chinese OEM took to its Weibo handle to confirm the announcement of its upcoming smartphone early in September this year. The Honor V9 Play launch event is scheduled to take place in China on September 6.
The invite posted on the micro blogging site didn’t reveal much detail about the device except for the launch date. However, images of the supposed Honor V9 Play recently cropped up on the Chinese telecom certification authority, TENAA. The images on the site showed off the phone featuring a metal unibody design with a fingerprint sensor embedded on the rear panel. Antenna lines could be seen running on top and bottom of the back panel with the honor branding down below. The volume keys and power button are seen located on the right side. The images also reveal a shiny metal chassis surrounding the corner.
Specification wise, the Honor V9 Play is said to carry a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution. The phone is tipped to equip an octa-core Kirin 659 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat. As for the optics, the Honor V9 Play is said to pack a 12-megapixel rear sensor. Reports suggest that the upcoming Honor smartphone could be priced at 1,500 Yuan (roughly Rs. 14,580).
While these are just speculations, we expect Honor to reveal more details about the Honor V9 Play at the launch event on September 6, along with information regarding the availability of the smartphone in the markets other than China.
