Honor 9 with a dual camera is expected to arrive in India next week on October 5, Huawei sub-brand suggested while responding to a user query on Twitter. Honor said launch event for Honor 9 will be held on October 5. To recall, Honor 9 first announced at a press event in China earlier this year. The key attraction of Honor 9, it houses 20MP+12MP dual camera with f/2.2 aperture that offers phase detection autofocus (PDAF), 2-times lossless zoom and dual-tone LED flash.
Honor 9 resembles a lot to last year’s Honor 8 except the fact that fingerprint scanner is now moved to the front. Honor 9 is also a heavier than Honor 8, however, its thickness remains unchanged. Honor 9 is somewhat taller than Honor 8, but still, it employed a 5.15-inch display, which results in 70% screen-to-body ratio. Last year’s Honor 8 offers a bigger screen with a comparatively shorter body, which ends up offering more screen-to-body ratio.
That being said, Honor 9 may have lost an opportunity to reduce the size of bezels at both the top as well as the bottom and made room for some extra real estate, similar to 18:9 screen smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. Needless to say, it would have been possible only if Honor had not moved fingerprint scanner to the front.
Honor 9 comes with more RAM and storage options: 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. However, it lacks a dedicated memory card slot in favour of a hybrid slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. Up front is an 8MP selfie camera. Honor 9 packs a 3200mAh battery with fast charging support.
Honor 9 is powered by the company’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core CPU and runs EMUI 5.1 software on top of Android Nougat. It supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It comes in Blue, Amber Gold, Gray and Black colours.
