Honor 8 Pro with dual rear camera, 6GB RAM announced in India

Honor has not announced the pricing for the new Honor 8 Pro yet, however, Allen Wang, Director, Product Centre, Huawei India Consumer Business Group told IANS that the Honor 8 Pro “will be priced in the affordable price segment”.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced its premium smartphone Honor 8 Pro in India on Thursday, June 22. The new smartphone which is taken to be an upgrade to the earlier launched flagship Honor 8 features dual rear camera. Evidently, this smartphone was first unveiled in China as V9 and later it made its way to Europe and the UK market early in April as the Honor 8 Pro.

Speaking about its dual rear camera, the Honor 8 Pro features two 12-megapixel cameras with f/2.2 aperture, laser autofocus and LED flash. One of the sensor in the smartphone capture images in RGB colour while the other lens shoots it in monochrome. The dual rear camera is also capable of capturing 4K video at 30fps (frames per second). On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The Honor 8 Pro features a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440×2560 pixels) LTPS LCD display with 2.5D arc glass layered on top. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Emotion UI 5.1 based Android 7.0 Nougat. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back below the dual rear camera.

The Honor 8 Pro boasts a metal unibody design just like the Honor 8 smartphone. The smartphone is powered by a Kirin 960 octa-core processor and various publications have benchmarked that this chipset ‘isn’t far behind’ Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 835 chipset when it is compared with multi-core and single-core performance. In terms of storage, the device comes with 6GB LPDDR4 RAM paired with 128GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). It measures 157×77.50×6.97mm and weighs 184 grams. As for the battery capacity, it carries a 4000mAh battery and supports fast charging.

Connectivity options on the Honor 8 Pro include- 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC. Honor has not announced the pricing for the new Honor 8 Pro yet, however, Allen Wang, Director, Product Centre, Huawei India Consumer Business Group told IANS that the Honor 8 Pro “will be priced in the affordable price segment”. The Honor 8 Pro was launched in the UK with a price tag of GBP474 (roughly Rs. 38,784) for the 6GBRAM/64GB Storage variant.
