HMD Global the parent company of Nokia recently announced that the beta build of Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo operating system was available to Nokia 8 smartphone owners. Today the company’s Cheif Product Officer Juho Sarvikas made a tweet saying that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will join the beta testing programme soon. However, the tweet did not contain any details in regards to the timeline for when the beta build for the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 will be unveiled.
To test out the beta build of the Android 8.0 operating system users will have to first join the new ‘Nokia phone beta labs’ programme which was recently launched. We recommend that you backup your smartphone before making the update so if any issues are there you can roll back to the previous version.
When the beta build comes out for your Nokia smartphone here’s what you have to do – Firstly, head to the Nokia phone beta labs page and sign up with your Google Account. After you are successfully signed up you will have to register your device by inputting the device’s IMEI number and a few other details. After the successful device registration, you will have to wait for around 12 hours within which you will get a notification for an over-the-air (OTA) update for the Android 8.0 beta build.
The new Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring new features to the Nokia smartphones like picture-in-picture, notification dots, Google Play Protect security scans, autofill passwords, and a faster boot up. Additionally, the update comes bundled with the latest October Android security patch.
