Google Play Music subscription model finally goes live in India. The search giant today announced the launch of Google Play Music subscription, which is known as Google Play Music All Access service for the country. The Play Music for India went live last year in September, however the All Access model wasn’t made available. Now with the subscription model, Google India has expanded the service from download only to music streaming with a nominal fee. Not just this, the Play Music app also lets users watch their videos within the app.

Google Play Music subscription will be available across Android, iOS and the web in India. Google is offering a free trial for everyone on Sign up. The trial period seems to be vary from account to account. We got 14 days free trial and Google is not asking you to put your credit card information upfront, however some people did get a 30 day free trial.

Also, as an introductory offer, Google is providing Play Music for a discounted subscription offer of Rs. 89 per month if users Sign up within the first 45 days.


“With Google Play Music subscription, Indian subscribers can listen to their favourite music across a variety of languages, including Hindi, English, Tamil and more. This music can be accessed from any device with your Google Account. To make the experience deeply personalized, we’ve plugged into Google’s understanding of context and machine learning to recommend the right music at the right moment based on each listener’s preference, place and activity” said Elias Roman, Lead Product Manager, Google Play Music.

Google notes that the Play Music offers a music catalogue of over 40 million unique local and international hits, and subscribers will be able to unlock everything including offline listening and on-demand access to full catalogue.


The Play Music app also integrates contextual tools for machine learning which can recommend music based on the listener’s preference, activity and location, added Google in its press statement.

So if you are relaxing at home, powering through at work, working out at the gym, or exploring a new city, Google Play Music will deliver personalized music based on where you are and why you are listening.”
