The Mountain View company launched Pixel 2 XL for a price starting at Rs 73,000 for 64GB version and Rs 82,000 for the 128GB model. Notably, Google last month in partnership with Flipkart hosted pre-booking for the handset. The e-commerce company provided a few enticing pre-order offers on the Google Pixel 2 XL. Google also offered a few good offline deals that were available on Reliance Digital, Croma etc. The offers on the new Pixel smartphone were valid until October 31.

Talking about specifications, the successor to last year’s Pixel XL features a 6.0-inch Quad HD (2,880 x 1,440 pixels) pOLED 18:9 screen, offering 77.1% screen-to-body ratio and resulting in 538 PPI pixel density. The screen further comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Google Pixel 2 XL ships with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Powering the handset is Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.35GHz and Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. It packs 4GB of RAM and offers two storage options: 64GB and 128GB. The phone, however, lacks expandable storage support.

Google Pixel 2 XL houses a 12.2 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), Laser Autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, there is an 8MP secondary shooter for selfies and video calls. Interestingly, Google has opted to stay away from one of the flavours of the season – Dual Cameras.

In terms of connectivity, Google Pixel 2 XL supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port. However, Google has done away with the 3.5mm headphone jack this time.

While the new Pixel phone hits the stores in India starting today, users in certain regions who had early access to the phone have reported numerous issues with the device. Most of the issues were related to Pixel 2 XL’s screen. Users have also reported a screen burn-in issue, dead spots and a visible blue hue across the screen. Though these issues have plagued the new flagship, Google has been generous enough to offer a 2-year warranty.
