Google at its major hardware event unveiled the most anticipated next-generation ‘Made by Google’ smartphone, the Google Pixel 2. The all-new Google Pixel 2 has thin bezels on both sides, with the power button and volume keys pitched on the right edge of the device. The USB-Type C port is drilled at the bottom while up front above the display you see a slight cut on top for sensors. Google Pixel 2 pre-orders start today for $649.

It comes with a new feature called “Active Edge” you can just squeeze the phone similar to HTC U11 (Review) and activate the Assistant. Google Pixel 2 offers unlimited Google Photos storage.

While several reports pointed out that Google will ditch 3.5mm audio jack on its new Pixel handset, the company has done so. This time around Google has implemented two front-facing stereo speakers on the Pixel 2. The smartphone comes with single camera setup with flash module alongside, and the fingerprint sensor is embedded right below the primary camera.

Coming to the specifications of the new Google Pixel 2 smartphone, it features a 5-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) OLED display. The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The new Pixel 2 is IP67 rated water and dust resistant. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and paired with 4GB of RAM. It will be available in two storage options- 4GB RAM+64GB native storage and 4GB RAM+128GB internal storage.

As far as the optics are concerned, the Google Pixel 2 sports a 12.2-megapixel primary camera sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, it has an 8-megapixel camera which is capable of recording video at 1080p. The rear camera offers touch focus, panorama, and HDR mode. The Pixel 2 will ship with Google’s Pure Android Oreo.

It 3.0 USB-Type C 1.0 reversible connector. The phone supports 4G VoLTE and fast charging. Connectivity options on the phone include- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, and GLONASS. It will come in three colour schemes – Blue, Black, and White. The Google Pixel 2 pricing starts at $649 and it will be available for pre-order from today.
