Google on Wednesday officially took the wraps off its most-awaited next-generation ‘Made by Google’ smartphone, the Pixel 2. The company also unveiled a few goodies, major among them the new flagship model. Shortly after the global Pixel launch event clinched, the second-generation Pixel’s India price was announced. The Pixel 2 price in India starts at Rs. 61,000 and pre-order for the handset will start from October 26. It will be up for sale from November 1 and it will be available across leading retail channels with over 1000+ offline stores in the country. The phone will also be available exclusively on e-retail site Flipkart.

Talking about the specifications, the Pixel 2 features a 5-inch full HD OLED display with 1080×1920 resolution. The display is accompanied by a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the panel against scratch and smudges. Google has ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack on the new Pixel, but a dongle is included. The phone is Daydream compatible and supports ‘Active Edge’, which means you can now squeeze the sides of the phone to perform certain actions. Google Assistant is a core part that brings a few smart features for the camera.

While several OEMs are shifting their smartphone’s design cue with thin bezels, the Internet search giant sticked to its standard-design language with squared-off corners and thick bezels just so to house the front-facing stereo speakers. This time around the Pixel has a larger camera lens than its predecessor. The Pixel 2 marked 98 score point on the DxOMark test, which is the highest rating given ever. It utilises a 12-megapixel sensor and implements AI and machine learning features to enhance the photo, reduce blur, and capture better images in low light conditions. It also offers a Portrait Mode that adds bokeh to the background. The Pixel 2 has OIS and EIS dubbed as Fused Video Stabilization to render smooth output while recording videos.

The Pixel 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone ships with Google’s new Android OS version Android Oreo. It packs a 2700mAh battery and carries fast charging support, with Google saying that it will get you 7 hours of charge in just 15 minutes.

The Pixel 2 comes in three colour options- Just Black, Kinda Blue, and Clearly White. As we’ve mentioned, the Pixel 2 pricing starts at Rs. 61,000 for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant while the 4GB RAM+128GB RAM model will cost you Rs. 71,000.
