While many are drooling eyes on Samsung and Apple’s upcoming flagship, Google’s next generation Pixel series are also in the ‘highly anticipated’ list mostly for the Android fans. A few renders of the supposed Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 have surfaced lending in a fair glimpse and this time the UK-based accessories maker Olixar has come up with cases giving perhaps the first best look of the two upcoming smartphones.
Evidently, the case maker previously had revealed nearly accurate design of the premium iPhone 7, Galaxy S8 and most recently Samsung’s next Note flagship, the Galaxy Note 8. Olixar FlexShield cases for the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are listed on smartphone accessory site MobileFun. The MobileFun listing shows off four Olixar Pixel 2 series cases- Purple, Blue, Black and transparent. The cases for the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are identical to one another, which means Google might bring a similar design like the previous iteration. However, the thick bezels on the Pixel and Pixel XL are seen missing on the new Pixel series. Instead, the front panel looks more like a combined design of Galaxy S8 and LG’s flagship G6.
Interestingly, a cutout for the standard 3.5mm jack in these cases are missing which indicates that Google might likely be done away with the audio jack on its upcoming flagship. Other than this, the renders show smooth curved edges, a circular fingerprint sensor and rear camera lens which appear to be larger than the one in the predecessor.
Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are expected to unveil this fall, and reports suggest that both the handsets will be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor. The devices are said to include 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Apparently, Google’s newest Android OS version Android O will come pre-installed on both the smartphones. Reports further suggest that the upcoming Pixel series will carry a glass and metal design.
