Google next month might be launching the next generation of the Pixel smartphone. Today, 9to5Google reported that the alleged Pixel 2 will come with IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The report also stated the company will be ditching the 3.55mm headphone jack which now most of the companies are doing. The phone might feature electronic image stabilisation (EIS) instead of optical image stabilisation (OIS). Moreover, a few renders of the smartphone have also been leaked.
As per the report, the upcoming Pixel 2 will be launched in two storage variants, 64GB and 128GB. It will feature a 4.97-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. If the report is believed to be true then the company will be shipping the Pixel 2 smartphone along with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm converter. In the leaked renders the device can be seen sporting a dark silver glass back and on a grey front.
As for the software, today we saw a report that the new Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL might come with Android 8.1 Oreo. The device will also feature an always on display which has been blurred out by 9to5Google to protect its source. The report has also stated that Google will be launching the Pixel smartphone line in October. However, we do recommend that you take this report with a pinch of salt as the devices have not yet been launched, and anything can change in the back.
