The first 30 customers to buy the headset from Flipkart will receive a Google Chromecast for free, and the first 50 customers will receive a Google Play Store Credit worth Rs. 500.

Google has officially launched its Virtual Reality headset, the Daydream View in India today. Priced at Rs. 6,499, the headset will be available exclusively on Flipkart and it comes with the controller as well.

The headset has bundled a few launch offers as well. PhonePe users on Flipkart that buy the Daydream View headset via UPI eill get a cash back of Rs. 300 on payment. Also, the first 30 customers to buy the headset from the e-retail site will receive a Google Chromecast for free, and the first 50 customers will receive a Google Play Store Credit worth Rs. 500.

The Daydream View headset was initially launched at Google I/O annual developer conference last year. While the VR headset was made available in select markets last year itself, it nearly took one year to reach Indian shores after its official launch.

For those who are willing to buy the Daydream View VR headset, they should keep in note that the headset to operate requires Daydream-supported smartphones. It also requires high-resolution displays and high-fidelity sensors. Notably, Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL are the first smartphone to support Daydream View VR platform. Motorola has also added Daydream VR support for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The Search giant has noted that it will extend the compatibility for Samsung’s premium smartphone-Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ very soon.

The Google Daydream View headset is made with soft, breathable fabric to help the user stay comfortable.  The lightweight headset is designed to fit comfortably over eyeglasses. The phone and headset have an auto-alignment so there isn’t any requirement of connectors or cables. The Daydream View controller powered by Bluetooth enables users to interact with the virtual world in a way similar like they interact with the real world. It also lets users to take actions with the help of motion and gesture sensors.

The Daydream app packs several apps- YouTube, Street View, Google Play Movies, NYT VR, Netflix VR etc. The company has partnered with Ubisoft, EA, LEGO and Warner Bros to build games for Daydream View VR headset. Some of these games include- Need for Speed No Limits VR, LEGO BrickHeadz Builder VR, Fantastic Beasts and more.
