Google is said to be killing it’s Google Now Launcher and will soon take it down from Google Play store, reported Android Police.

According to the report, Google Now Launcher will be pulled from Google Play store in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, which means there will be only one Google launcher after it – the ‘Pixel Launcher’. However, Google will continue to support existing users of the Google Now Launcher by updating Google Search app.

As per an email sent by a tipster (see below), Google has alerted GMS (Google Mobile Services) partners about the decision of taking down Google Now Launcher and it will not be available for optional GMS app package from March 1, 2017. Google will no longer approve devices from OEMs if they have Google Now Launcher on the system image and instead suggests them to use ‘SearchLauncher’ app if they cannot find any immediate replacement.

For OEM partners who’d got the devices approved before the cut-off can continue shipping these devices with Google Now Launcher and once the device has been updated to newer version of Android, it’ll not replace Google Now Launcher with something else.
