Search giant Google is on the verge to announce Android O, and as disappointing as it may seem, its name is yet to reveal. Google is known to name the release after something sweet. So, ever since Google announced Android O, speculations hint Google could name it Android Oreo. It appears Google has geared to announce the name next week. We have come across a couple of tweets from a famous tipster Evan Blass and Android Police’s David Ruddock, both confirming the date of Android O name unveiling to be August 21.
David Ruddock tweeted citing a source: “According to one source whose information I cannot verify, Android O will receive a name on the day of the solar eclipse (August 21st).” Soon after that, he posted another tweet: “I’m not going to ruin the surprise of the name. It doesn’t really matter and I feel like spoiling it actually is kind of a spoiler.”
Evan Blass, on the other hand, also speculated the date of Android O name unveiling to be August 21. His tweet reads: “Android O release scheduled for the week of 8/21, “most likely on the 21st itself.””
A couple of months ago, there was a report Google could name its new operating system Oatmeal Cookie. According to a report, the source code contains several mentions of “oc-dev,” hinting at Oatmeal Cookie. Last month, Google announced the fourth and final developer preview of Android O, suggesting imminent launch. The fourth developer preview includes the final system behaviours, the latest bug fixes, optimization and final APIs that arrived with the third developer preview.
