Google today, during IFA 2017 trade show in Berlin announced that they will be expanding the support of Google Assistant to various other third party Bluetooth smart speakers this year. Google Assistant was first launched in 2016 at Google’s I/O developer’s conference. It was Google’s competitor to Apple’s Siri digital Assistant. After which Google launched the Google Home smart speaker powered by Assistant to compete with Amazon’s Echo smart speaker which currently dominates the market. Also during the trade show, third party smart speakers from Anker, Mobvoi, and Panasonic were showcased with the Google Assistant integrated. Alongside this, the company also announced that Assistant will soon support home appliances also, and LG will be the first company to launch products with the digital assistant.
Anker Zolo Mojo
The first smart speaker showcased was the Zolo Mojo from Anker, it has a cylindrical design similar to the Amazon Echo. It also supports Bluetooth support for connecting mobile devices. Anker hasn’t yet announced the price of the Zolo Mojo, but they have said that the speaker will hit the market by the end of 2017.
Mobvoi the company behind the TicWatch smartwatch also announced a smart speaker named the TicHome Mini. It is a small disk like smart speaker which will be priced under $100 says the company. Interestingly this smart speaker comes with IPX6 water and dust resistance rating. The Mobcoi TicHome Mini will go on sale later this year.
Lastly, Panasonic also unveiled its Google Assistant powered smart speaker, the Panasonic GA10. It is rectangular in shape and looks elegant. Though the company showcased the speaker, it did not reveal the price and availability of the smart speaker.
Google also said that later this week it will be introducing more new third party smart speakers that will come with Assistant support.
