Google today in a blog post said that they have launched a new beta build of the Android Wear operating system that is built on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. Currently, the beta build is only available to the users who possess the LG Watch Sport smartwatch.
In the blog, the company mentioned that they will be including an app notification channel which will help the users to block unwanted notifications or simply mute them. This new update will be much more customisable as all the apps will be present locally on the smartwatch itself. This will give the user much more control over the device.
The update also has a few restrictions like, constant updating of the location, apps and processes that need to be kept running in the background can’t have their notices switched off as they will then end and not run in the background.
“Battery-saving best practices such as using JobScheduler should be adopted to ensure your app is battery-efficient and able to perform background tasks when possible,”
said the Android Wear blog.
Android Wear is steadily growing and luxury brands like Emporio Armani also have started to make smartwatches. Emporio Armani in June launched its own smartwatch powered by Android Wear and made in partnership with the Fossil Group. The watch is called the EA connected smartwatch. Seeing this we can surely say that Google is committed to the development of this platform.
