A couple of weeks ago, Gionee launched the affordable Gionee X1 smartphone in India for Rs 8,999. Now, Gionee has geared up to announce a new budget smartphone the Gionee X1S in India sometime next month, a source close to the company has confirmed to Techook. The Gionee X1S will be an upgraded variant of the recently announced Gionee X1.
The key attraction, the Gionee X1S is a selfie-focused smartphone that will carry a 16MP front-facing shooter and a 13MP primary rear shooter. The phone will sport a 5.2-inch HD (1,280 x 720) display, resulting in 282 ppi pixel density. Internally, it will run on a MediaTek MT6737T SoC coupled with Mali T720 GPU for graphics. Furthermore, it will house 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It runs Android Nougat based Amigo UI out-of-the-box. Last but not least, the Gionee X1S will house a bigger 4,000mAh battery under the hood.
We also spotted the Gionee X1S on a benchmarking website Geekbench. The limited specifications listed on a benchmarking website confirm some of the specifications we’ve mentioned above. The Geekbench listing also suggests that the Gionee X1S runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. It’s powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM.
Design-wise, the Gionee X1S will be similar to the X1. Although we’ve no confirmation with regards to its price, the Gionee X1S is expected to cost somewhere around Rs 10,000 or less.
The Gionee X1, on the other hand, sports a 5-inch 720p HD screen. Powering the device is a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage (up to 256GB). The phone houses an 8-megapixel rear shooter and 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. Available in black and gold colour options, the Gionee X1 packs a 3,000mAh battery under the hood.
