Gionee has officially announced its new smartphone Gionee S9 in China. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer unveiled the new smartphone at an event on November 15. Gionee S9 does tote some extra features compared to its predecessor Gionee S8.
The key feature is its new dual rear camera set-up which was not available in the Gionee S8 phone. The rear camera sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with a 5-megapixel lens alongside. It comes with dual tone LED flash. It uses camera sensor developed by Sony and Samsung respectively. The front camera has a 13-megapixel sensor and comes with Gionee’s exquisite flash feature. The rear camera which is paired with the dual lens enables the user to adjust the focus and capture images with sharp depth of field.
The new device comes with a 5.5 (1920×1080 pixels) HD full display with 2.5D curved glass. The company, however has made a switch in Gionee S9’s display from AMOLED to LCD.
The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with Mali T860 GPU clocked at 2GHz. Packed with 4GB RAM, the handset is paired with 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD.
The Gionee S9 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.2. It has a hybrid dual sim configuration with a battery back-up of 3000 mAh. The device also sports a finger-print sensor. Supporting 4G VoLTE, Gionee S9 other connectivity features include Wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. With dimensions 154.2×76.4×7.4mm, the new smartphone weighs around 168.2g.
Priced at CNY 2,499 ($364USD), the Chinese manufacturer’s new smartphone Gionee S9 will be available to the customers in China from November 25th, 2016. It will come in Black, Gold, Rose Gold colour variant.
