Gionee launched a new mid-range smartphone dubbed M7 Power in India last night. The handset is priced at Rs 16,999 and goes on sale in India starting 25 Nov. The key highlight of Gionee M7 Power is a big 5,000mAh battery that’s expected to last two days. Design-wise, it flaunts a laser-grilled finish on the rear which felt a bit ticklish to hold during our initial observations. It measures 8.6mm in thickness and weighs 187g, which is at par with phones carrying such big capacity batteries under the hood.
Specs-wise, Gionee M7 Power sports a 6-inch near bezel-less 18:9 display featuring 1,440 x 720 pixels resolution and 268 ppi pixel density. There’s a layer of 2.5D curved glass on top. However, it lacks a Gorilla Glass protection and oleophobic coating to safeguard the display from smudges and fingerprints. The fingerprint scanner is now on the rear, unlike Gionee A1 lineup. There’s also an IR blaster up top so that users can control their TVs or ACs.
As far as photography is concerned, Gionee M7 Power houses a 13-megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash. It can record 4K videos. Up front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera for selfies and video calls. There are many camera filters and effects, we mentioned in our initial hands-on experience with the device. Inside is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC, Adreno 505 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that’s expandable further with a MicroSD card.
Available in multiple colour options like Gold, Black and Dark Blue, Gionee M7 Power will be available for purchase online as well as in offline retail outlets. We exclusively reported last week that Gionee is due to launch another handset Gionee S10 Lite in India, possibly sometime next month. More on that soon.
