Gionee has sent out invites for its MWC 2017 launch event where the company will unveil new ‘A Series’ of smartphones. The event invite sent out to us notes February 27th date along with launch of A1 and A1 Plus smartphones.
The invite also notes “Inspiring Your Smile”, suggesting the phone to be selfie-centric, and if purported specifications are to be believed then Gionee A1 could feature a 16-megapixel front facing camera and 13-megapixel rear rear.
While there is no information available about the smartphones, some rumored specification over the web suggests Gionee A1 to pack a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1080 x1920 pixels) 2.5D display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage along with microSD card support up to 128GB. The fingerprint sensor could be in the front on home button and backed by a 4010mAh battery along with a 18W charger for fast charging support.
Other than that, the Gionee A1 is also expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat and feature an IR blaster. About the processor, it is rumoured to pack a 1.8GHz octa-core processor and we expect it to be a Qualcomm snapdragon processor and not MediaTek.
Last year in July during the launch of Gionee M6 and M6 Plus launch in China, William Lu, CEO and President of Gionee told media that the company is developing new smartphones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.
