Gionee A1 with 16-megapixel ‘Selfie-camera’ reportedly to launch on March 21 in India

Gionee has already started teasing the launch of its new smartphone Gionee A1 in India. Now, a new report has claimed that the company will be launching the smartphone in the mid of March.

According to industry source (via Times of India), Gionee is said to be announcing its new smartphone Gionee A1 on March 21. The company had officially introduced its new A series smartphone- A1 and A1 Plus at the Mobile World Congress (2017) late February this year.

The highlight of the both the smartphones is their front-facing selfie. The A1 boasts a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and videos, while the A1 Plus has a 20megapixel front-facing sensor. Both the devices come with bokeh-selfie feature as well.

In terms of specifications, the Gionee A1 feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 resolution) display. Powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 processor, the handset comes with 4GB RAM paired with 64GB internal memory. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. It has a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens. The dual-SIM Gionee A1 runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo 4.0 skin on top. The phone is beefed up with a 4,010mAh battery. the handset supports 4G LTE and will be available in Gold, Gray and Black colour options.

The Gionee A1 Plus meanwhile packs a phablet size 6-inch full HD (1920×1080 resolution) display. It powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card). Unlike, the A1 smartphone, the A1 Plus carries a dual-camera setup of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel module with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. It runs on Amigo OS 4.0 based Android 7.0 Nougat. The smartphone is pegged with a big 4550mAh battery. The dual-SIM A1 Plus supports fast charging and comes with USB on-the-go (OTG). The phone will be available in Gray and Mocha Gold colour options. Both the handset come with Waves MaxxAudio technology. As for the pricing, the Gionee A1 was launched at a price of €349 (around Rs. 24,500) and the A1 Plus was tagged with a price of €449 (roughly Rs. 31,500).

Although Gionee has claimed to bring the base variant in India soon, the company has not shared any word on whether it will launch the Gionee A1 Plus in the country.
