Andy Rubin’s premium smartphone, the Essential was unveiled in May. While the Android creator promised that the phone will start shipping this month, it failed to meet the said deadline. However, the phone has now got a new release date as Rubin in an email to potential customers has confirmed that the Essential phone will start shipping “in a few weeks”.
The Android creator has said that the phone is currently going through certification and testing with several U.S. and international carriers. Furthermore, he has assured that the Essential phone will be in the hands of consumers “in a few weeks”.

The release date sounds to be good news for those who have been anticipating the phone since its unwrap back in May. Rubin at the time of phone announcement said that it would ship within 30 days. The 30-days shipping deadline passed by without much word from the company on the phone’s delay. However, Rubin and his team now seem to be finally prepared to bring the phone to its customers.
The Essential phone features a 5.7-inch QHD display. The modular phone boasts an edge-to-edge-display with thin bezels at the bottom. It has an aspect ratio of 19:10 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor paired with Adreno 540GPU and 4GB of RAM. The phone has recently been spotted Wi-Fi certification running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In terms of imaging, the Essential phone comes with dual camera arrangement, one for RGB and the other for monochrome. Both the sensors carry a 13-megapixel resolution with f/1.85 aperture and hybrid autofocus. The front camera comes with a resolution of 8-megapixel and is capable of recording 4K video. The phone packs a 3040mAh battery and supports fast charging.
The Essential phone made of titanium and ceramic materials, its highlight is the magnetic pin connectors on the back. The phone has a proprietary system to connect accessories such as the 360-degree camera and a wireless charger to the phone. It comes with USB-C port and has support for 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS. As for the pricing, the Essential phone comes with a price tag of $699 (roughly Rs. 45,200).
