Smartphone designs are revolutionising drastically, with devices enamoured with glass front and the rear panel is the most favourite for smartphone makers this year. But while this adds an elegant touch to the smartphones, the glass front being the most common victim of any accidental drop will pave more cost for repairing especially the premium most iPhone X. However, the California based-company Caterpillar (aka CAT) that brings rugged smartphones, its devices are considered to be among the sturdiest in the smartphone arena. The company had recently introduced a new smartphone CAT S41 that holds the same toughness like its previous iteration.
The newly launched CAT S41 can withstand fall onto concrete from any orientation from up to 5 to 9 feet. The device can also stand intense heat, cold and is IP68 rated water and dust resistant. Like the LG G6, the phone is MIL-SPEC 810G rated. The CAT S41 sports a 5-inch full HD display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display is also optimised for use with gloves or wet fingers.
The smartphone carries Android Nougat OS onboard. It packs a mammoth size 5000mAh battery that promises to provide 38 hours of 3G talk time or 44 days standby. The phone features a textured, extra grip design and comes with a special cable that will enable the handset to charge other devices with Battery Share power bank feature.
On the hardware front, the CAT S41 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with 3GB RAM. Internal storage is at 32GB which is expandable up to 2TB with the microSD card. It sports a 13MP rear camera and a 8MP front-facing camera both of which can work underwater. The smartphone includes LTE/VoLTE and comes with a Shortcut Key that enables to start Push to Talk (PTT) service and quickly launch phone’s camera or flashlight.
The all-new CAT S41 is priced at $449 and is already available for purchase via Amazon, eBay, The Home Depot, B&H and Best Buy.
