The state-owned telecom operator Bharati Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has introduced a new voice and data plan that will provide unlimited voice and data to its prepaid users. The BSNL ‘429 plan’ will offer its users unlimited voice calls and 1GB of data per day for a period of 90 days. To avail this plan users will have to recharge their prepaid number with Rs. 429, after which they will get free voice (local/STD) on any network and 90 GB of data (at 1 GB per day) for 90 days on PAN India basis (except Kerala Circle).
“This Voice & Data Centric Plan is available for Rs. 429/ ie Rs. 143/ per month which gives unlimited voice (Local/STD) on any net and 90 GB data (@ 1 GB per day) for 90 days, which is the most competitive plan in present market scenario,” said R.K. Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL, in a press statement.
Notably, BSNL early in August this year announced three promotional offers starting at Rs. 258. The promotional offers brought free on-net (BNSL to BSNL) voice calls, 3G data benefits per day and more. However, these plans were limited to users in Punjab and Gujarat circles.
While the new entrant, Reliance Jio that has just completed a year today, continuing to be a major disruptor in the Indian telecom industry, the move from major network providers to stay ahead in the competition have led to the introduction of several plans with data and voice calls at better rates to retain consumers.
Airtel, the second largest telecom service provider in India, launched a ‘349 Plan’, quite similar to Reliance Jio’s Rs. 349 Plan. With a validity of 28 days, this new Airtel plan offers 1GB of 4G data per day, free more unlimited voice calling to its prepaid users.
