The state-owned telecom network operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) announced a new plan to challenge the offerings of Jio and Airtel. BSNL announced a new Rs 448 prepaid plan that provides 1GB daily data for 84 days. Thus, customers end up availing up to 84GB data before the validity expires. Additionally, the latest BSNL Rs 448 plan also provides 100 SMS per day and unrestricted access to personalised ring back tone (PRBT).
BSNL Rs 448 plan competes with Jio Rs 448 plan, which offers twice the amount of 4G data (2GB per day) in addition to unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day and access to other Jio apps and services with the validity of 84 days. Meanwhile, Airtel also has a similar Rs 448 plan too. It provides 1.4GB high-speed data for 82 days. Other benefits like unlimited calling and daily 100 SMS remain the same. However, unlike Airtel and Jio, BSNL still has 3G data to offer since their 4G services are currently limited to Kerala.
Previously, BSNL announced a couple of special tariff vouchers (STVs) with benefits like unlimited data and calling. Hence, regardless of the network circles, all BSNL prepaid users across the country can benefit from these new plans. Interestingly, BSNL had come up with similar offerings for their postpaid customers as well. The company announced a monthly billing plan for Rs 1595 with benefits like unlimited data and voice calls.
If you recall, BSNL had announced their plans towards the end of last year to roll out 4G services, starting with Kerala and Odisha. The company also hopes to install over 10,000 4G mobile towers by March 2018.
