With Reliance Jio offering 12 months of free 4G data under Jio Prime membership, BSNL has taken the stage to counter the threat from the mobile network operator company. According to a report from PTI, the state-run telecom firm has launched a new plan for its users that offers 2 GB of 3G data per day and unlimited calling within its network for Rs. 339.
The offer comes under the Combo special tariff voucher (STV) of Rs. 339 that provides unlimited calls in BSNL network, unlimited data of 2GB per day (under ‘fair’ use policy) with a validity of 28 days. The offer is limited for a period of 90 days. The unlimited 3G data STVs will be available for all the BSNL prepaid customers in North and South Zones. In addition, the prepaid users will get 25 minutes of free calling to other network everyday, and after that they will be charged 25 paisa for a minute-long phone call.
“We are committed to providing affordable and efficient services to all segment of our loyal mobile customers. We offer best prices to our customers considering present trend of Indian telecom industry,” BSNL Director for Consumer Mobility, RK Mittal said.
After the announcement of Reliance Jio’s Prime membership programme last month, Reliance has set a major competition in the telecom industry. Essentially, the programme will be effective from April 1.. The users enrolling for Jio Prime membership will get unlimited data and calls till March 31, 2018, after paying one time registration fee of Rs 99 and Rs 303 per month. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel is also offering free data of up to 30GB for three months to its postpaid customers, which can be availed before March 31.
