Days after a press render of the BlackBerry’s new smartphone emerged on the internet, TCL, the manufacturing partner for BlackBerry has now finally taken wraps off its keyboard-less smartphone, the BlackBerry Motion. The phone was launched at the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai.
The BlackBerry Motion is a mid-range device that comes with a price ‘equivalent to about’ $460 which roughly translates to Rs. 30,050 after conversion. The highlight of the smartphone is its big 4000mAh battery. The handset features a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080×1920 resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC (system-on-chip) paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.

As for the imaging, the Motion is accompanied by a 12-megapixel sensor at the rear side with f/2.0 aperture. At the front, the smartphone gets an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. If you take a closer glance at the new BlackBerry smartphone, it looks a lot similar like the BlackBerry KEYOne from the rear side, except for the traditional QWERTY keyboard is now missing on the new Motion. The handset features a front-facing fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button. Below the display, it has capacitive navigation keys with the Home button imprinted with the BlackBerry logo. The primary camera module is placed at the top left corner at the back. A notable inclusion on the new BlackBerry Motion is that the device is IP67 certified which means, it is water and dust resistant. As far as the software is concerned, the Motion runs a customised Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and carries security features from BlackBerry. Further, the phone also includes a customisable physical button called ‘Convenience Key’ that will let users get quick access to four options- Home, Car, Office, and User.
As far as the availability is concerned, the BlackBerry Motion is said to hit shelves in Middle East countries first with a price (as mentioned) tag of around $460. The company has not shared any word as when it will release the smartphone in other markets, including India.
