Asus celebrating World Photography Day has announced a new dual camera smartphone in India, the Asus Zenfone Zoom S. The handset boasted to be the slimmest and lightest offers a 2.3X optical and 12 X Digital Zoom dual camera setup which is the highlight of the new Zenfone Zoom S. Priced at Rs. 26,999, the smartphone is exclusively available on e-retail site Flipkart.

Talking about the camera hardware first, the Asus Zenfone Zoom S features two 12-megapixel camera with the main sensor having a f/1.7 aperture, 6p lens, an 81.8-degree field of view. The secondary camera comes with a 2.3X optical zoom, f/2.6 aperture. The primary lens on the smartphone is capable of recording 4K UHD video with EIS (electronic image stabilisation). The Zenfone Zoom S also gives the option to capture and store images in RAW format. Users can also tweak camera settings manually under the Manual mode that include white balance, exposure value (EV), focus, ISO, shutter speed selection that ranges from 1/16000 second to a maximum of 32 seconds. Asus claims that the ZenFone Zoom S has an improved Asus TriTech+ autofocus system with new dual Pixel PDAF (phase detection autofocus) technology. At the front, the device sports a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, five-element Largan lens.

Specifications wise, the Zenfone Zoom S features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) AMOLED display with 2.5D contoured Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by a 14nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz and paired with Adreno 506GPU. The phone offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 skin on top. Asus says that the phone is upgradable to Android 7.0 Nougat. In terms of design, it boasts a full metal body construction. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the rear panel. As for the powerhouse, Zenfone Zoom S packs a massive 5000mAh battery which is claimed to deliver 2 days of usage on a single charge. The phone supports reverse charging and BoostMaster fast charging as well.

Connectivity options on the phone include- dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802 11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G VoLTE support. The phone is available in two colour options- Navy Black, Glacier Silver. It also features 5-magnet speaker with NXP Smart Amp for clear audio quality. The Zenfone Zoom S is Hi-Res certified and features DTS Headphone X which is said to recreate a user’s content in a virtual 7.1ch Surround Sound effect over headphones.
