Asus has launched its Daydream and Tango-enabled smartphone, Asus Zenfone AR at an event in New Delhi today. The device which is said to be the world’s first to pack both Augmented and Virtual Reality platforms into one device is priced at Rs. 49,999 in India.
The Tango-enabled Asus Zenfone AR features a 5.7-inch WQHD (1440×2560 resolution) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU. As mentioned above, the device comes with a massive 8GB of RAM coupled with 128GB onboard storage which can be further expanded via microSD card. The smartphone also features UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 2.0 technology. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Asus ZenUI 3.0 skin layered on top.
In terms of imaging, Asus ZenFone AR features three cameras that are clustered by Asus own TriCam system. The primary camera accommodates a 23-megapixel Sony IMX 318 sensor with OIS and 4K video recording support, the other two comprises of motion-tracking and depth sensing. It features 6p Largan Lense, Sapphire Lens protection and dual-tone LED flash. The Tango technology is said to enable the handset to “detect how far away it is from the floor, a wall, or an object and understand where it is moving in three-dimensional space”. At the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide angle lens.
As for the battery, the Asus Zenfone AR carries a 3300Ah non-removable battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, and Wi-Fi 801.11ac. The dual-SIM Zenfone AR also boasts an external five magnet speaker that will support Hi-Res audio and DTS virtual surround sound. It also includes ‘Vapor Cooling’ system to avoid overheating. The Asus Zenfone AR will come in a single colour variant- Black.
Price and Availability
As mentioned earlier, Asus Zenfone AR is priced at Rs. 49,999. It will be available exclusively on the e-retail site Flipkart starting today.
