Asus is planning to manufacture its Zen series smartphone Zenfone 3 Max in India. Restating its commitment to the Make in India initiative, the Taiwanese smartphone maker on Tuesday announced its plan to manufacture the new Zenfone 3 Max in the country. The company will manufacture the smartphone at its facility in Daman (Union Territory of Daman & Diu) from December 2016, as said by the company in a statement.

Peter Chang, Region Head, South Asia and Country Manager for Asus India said, “Besides our headquarters in Taiwan, India is among the most important markets for us and we are constantly looking to strengthen our presence and operations in the country.”

The Zenfone 3 Max which was launched recently this month will be the third smartphone to be manufactured in India after the production of Zenfone 2 Laser and Zefone Go that was initiated last year. Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes in two screen size variants-5.5-inch (ZC553KL) and 5.2-inch (ZC520TL), and features 16-megapixel rear camera along with 8-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel primary camera with a 5-megapixel front sensor respectively. Both the variants run on Asus Zen UI 3.0 skin, based on Android Marshmallow 6.0. THE 4G enabled smartphone comes with 3GB RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage. The 5.5-inch variant phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The other version sports a quad-core MediaTek processor, 2GB Ram & 16 GB internal storage and 3GB RAM & 32GB on-board storage.

The device sports a 2.5D glass touchscreen and has an aluminum alloy metal body design. The highlight of the device is its massive 4,100 mAh battery which company claims to deliver 30 days of standby time. The handset has a USB OTG cable that enables users to connect and charge other devices.

The Zenfone 3 Series was introduced by the company in August this year. Asus Zenfone 3 includes – Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Deluxe, and the ‘affordable’ smartphone Zenfone 3 Laser. Asus flagship smartphone Zenfone 3 Deluxe is the first phone from the company to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 System on Chip (SoC).
