Asus has pulled the curtains off its latest Zenfone 4 series in Taiwan today. The new lineup includes- the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, Zenfone 4 Max Pro and the Zenfone 4 Max. As its done in previous years, Asus has introduced these range of devices prioritizing the preferences of its consumers.
Let’s get into a brief detail on each of these Zenfone 4 handsets-
Asus Zenfone 4 Pro
Talking about the Asus Zenfone 4 Pro first, it is a highly specced handset powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6gigabytes of RAM. The phone boasts an ‘ultra’ glossy design around a metal frame and has smooth curved edges. It features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) AMOLED display and packs a large 3,600mAh battery. The smartphone runs ZenUI 4.0 based Android 7.1.1 Nougat. As for the optics, the premium Zenfone 4 Pro sports a 2x zoom dual camera with dual-tone LED flash. The primary lens gets a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor with large 1.4µm pixels, f/1.7 aperture, 4-axis image stabilisation, optical stabilisation for still photography and electronic stabilisation for recording videos. The secondary lens comes with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX351 sensor paired with an f/2.6 aperture for 2x optical zoom and bokeh effect as well. At the front, the Zenfone 4 Pro features an 8-megapixel Sony IMX319 sensor with f/1.9 aperture, an 88-degree wide angle view and phase detection autofocus.
The fingerprint sensor on the smartphone has been placed up front on the home button. The phone offers 64GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 2TB using microSD card. The Zenfone 4 Pro supports fast charging, 4G VoLTE and includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, NFC under its connectivity suite. It comes with dual speakers, Hi-Res Audio and dual internal mics with Asus noise reduction technology.
Asus Zenfone 4
Just like the Zenfone 4 Pro it has a 5.5-inch full HD display but instead of an AMOLED display it comes with a LCD panel. The phone carries Qualcomm’s latest mobile platform, Snapdragon 630 SoC (system-on-chip) paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage which is further expandable up to 1TB via microSD card. The Zenfone 4 also offers dual rear camera arrangement with a 12-megapixel primary sensor having f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilisation and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with 120-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone has an 8-megapixel front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with ZenUI 4.0 skin on top. The phone comes with USB Type-C charging port and supports 4G VoLTE. The regular Zenfone 4 packs a 3300mAh battery and gets single speaker.
Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro
As the name suggests, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is meant for selfie enthusiasts. Asus has utilised dual camera up front on this handset with the primary lens packing a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor. The main sensor plays it intelligently capturing 24-megapixel selfies using the 12MP sensor. The secondary camera in the front also has a 12-megapixel sensor and it offers 120-degree wide angle selfie capture. The front dual cameras come with f/1.8 aperture, soft LED flash and is capable of recording 4K video. On the rear side, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro features a 16-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash and phase detection autofocus.
Specifications wise, the smartphone features 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 14nm octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone runs Zen UI 4.0 based Android 7.0 Nougat. It packs 3000mAh battery and supports fast charging and 4G VoLTE.
Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie
The regular Zenfone 4 Selfie also gets dual front facing cameras with a 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The secondary camera comes with an 8-megapixel sensor and 120-degree wide-angle lens. At the back, it has a 16-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). It sports a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 resolution) IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. The phone offers similar RAM/storage like the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0 layered on top. It packs a 3000mAh battery and comes with dual-SIM support.
Both the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro and the Zenfone 4 Selfie carries front-mounted fingerprint sensor located on the home button.
Asus Zenfone 4 Max Pro
The Asus Zenfone features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass on top. Asus has introduced two variants of the Zenfone 4 Max Pro. The phone comes with a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor meant for Indian users while the global variant carries a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 mobile platform. The handset offers 2GB/3GB of RAM and 32GB storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. It runs Zen UI 3.0 based Android 7.0 Nougat and packs a massive 5000mAh battery along with fast charging support.
As for camera, it boasts 16-megapixel dual rear cameras with the main sensor having f/2.0 aperture, 79-degree wide and the secondary sensor comes with 120-degree wide-angle lens and electronic image stabilisation. At front, it has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 76-degree wide-angle lens and soft LED flash. The phone comes with 10W rapid charging support and has a fingerprint sensor placed on the home button.
Asus also showed off the Zenfone 4 Max which recently made its debut in Russia.
The premium Asus Zenfone 4 Pro comes in Pure Black and Moonlight White colours and its pricing starts at $599 (roughly Rs. 38,430). The Zenfone 4 will be come in three colour scheme- Midnight Black, Moonlight Green and Mint Green and pricing starts at $399 (around Rs. 25,600). The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie 4 Pro comes in Rouge Red, Sunlight Gold and Deepsea Black while the Zenfone 4 Selfie will come in Deepsea Black, Mint Green, Rose Pink, Sunlight colours. Pricing for the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro and the Zenfone 4 Selfie starts at $379 (around Rs. 24,310) and $279 (roughly Rs. 17,900) respectively.
Asus has announced that the smartphones will hit the shelves first in the Asian market and then extend to other markets globally.
