Taiwanese smartphone company Asus has reduced the prices of some of the smartphones in the Zenfone 3 series in India. To recall, Asus’ ZenFone 3 series was initially unveiled in India in August of 2016. The series is comprised of numerous handsets such as Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3s Max and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. Asus has slashed the prices on most of the Zenfone 3 smartphones, except for the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. If you were ever looking for an excuse to spend on an Asus smartphone, the revised pricing might be just the reason you have been waiting for.
Asus Zenfone 3 | Review
The Asus Zenfone 3 was initially announced in India starting at Rs 17,999 for a 5.2-inch model. There is another variant boasting a 5.5-inch display, which was priced at Rs 19,999. Both the models feature 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. However, the company’s new prices reflect differences up to Rs 3,000 on select models. As a result, Zenfone 3 5.2-inch model now costs Rs 15,999. The 5.5-inch variant, on the other hand, will be retailing at Rs 16,999. Other specifications include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC, and 3000mAh battery. In terms of photography, it houses a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Last but not the least, it supports VoLTE so that you can operate it on Reliance Jio network.

Second in the list is the Asus Zenfone 3 Max, a phone which is known for offering a massive 4100mAh battery. Although Asus originally announced this phone in two variants: a 5.2-inch and a 5.5-inch. The Zenfone 3 Max was originally priced at the starting price of Rs 12,999. However, if you want to buy this phone today, it comes at the discounted price of Rs 10,999. Similarly, the 5.5-inch model, which was initially retailing at Rs 15,999 has a new price tag of Rs 14,999. Available in multiple colour options such as Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver, and Sand Gold, the Zenfone 3 Max packs a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Internally, it runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and Adreno 505 GPU for graphics. Camera-wise, it sports a 13MP primary camera and 8MP selfie camera.

A younger and fairly newer sibling of the Zenfone 3 Max, the Zenfone 3s Max has a single 5.2-inch variant unlike the previously mentioned phones in this article. Carrying the model number ZC521TL, the 3s Max was retailing in India at Rs 14,999 until now. That is until Asus decided to put a new price tag on this phone, which can now be purchased at Rs 12,999. Specifications wise, the Zenfone 3s Max runs Android Nougat-based software out of the box. Additionally, it includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6750 octa-core SoC and Mali-T860 for graphics. It carries within a huge 5,000mAh battery. Lastly, it sports a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The effects of GST can be felt across various domains a slight drop in smartphone pricing is definitely welcome. The timing of the price drop is also interesting given that rumours of the Zenfone 4 series launching soon have started doing the rounds. Whether Asus actually unveils the new lineup in the next few months is up for debate, what is certain is that the current phones are now available at a far more lucrative price than before.
