A couple more days and the whole world will witness Apple launch its tenth-anniversary iPhone alongside few other products at its most-anticipated September 12 event. Needless to say, September has always been an exciting month for Silicon Valley as Apple hosts its major event of the year to showcase its new iPhone models. This year will be no different. In fact, excitement is at its peak as this year Apple also completed ten years of its iPhone journey.
A software developer Steven Troughton-Smith analysed a leaked build of iOS, according to which Apple’s tenth-anniversary iPhone model could be known as iPhone X. The leaked iOS build is expected to be rolled out to consumers later this month. Reports suggest the code also reveals multiple references to forthcoming iPhone models.
Apple iPhone X, Apple iPhone 8, Apple iPhone
Rumours suggest Apple iPhone X could feature energy efficient OLED screen for improved colour representation. A couple other models Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus, successor to last year’s Apple iPhone 7 (Review) and Apple iPhone 7 Plus (Review) respectively will be released in tandem with tenth-anniversary Apple iPhone X. However, they are said to feature an LCD panel.
It’s no longer a secret that tenth anniversary iPhone X (or whatever it may be called) may undergo radical design changes. It’s also been long rumoured TouchID won’t be a part of it. If it has to, according to some reports, it will be placed underneath the display. We have been hearing contradictory reports with regards to TouchID. Reports have also suggested Apple is likely to replace fingerprint scanner with facial recognition.
Apple Watch Series 3
The technology giant is likely to release Apple Watch Series 3 on September 12, which is said to feature LTE (Long-Term Evolution) connectivity. As a result, next-gen Apple Watch may directly connect to the cellular network without relying on Apple iPhone. Apple sold some of last year’s new Watch models with integrated GPS chip, making them operate more independently.
New Apple AirPods
Smith also spotted a small reference to new AirPods. So, Apple is expected to take a fresh look at its next-gen AirPods Bluetooth earphones it unveiled originally last year. Current-gen AirPods make it mandatory for users to open their case in order to see its charging indicator. This year’s AirPods are expected with some sort of improvements over previous generation’s.
