Just a couple more hours and Apple’s big event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in the new Apple campus. On the occasion of its tenth iPhone anniversary, the Cupertino tech company is widely expected to bring a radically designed iPhone, two new iPhone models and a few more Apple products alongside.
Here’s what we expect Apple to announce at its September 12 press event.
iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
Apple is expected to launch three new iPhone models for this year. Earlier this weekend, company’s supposed naming plans for its upcoming iPhone got leaked, courtesy to developers who unearthed the information from iOS 11 Golden Master software code. According to developer Steven Troughton-Smith, Apple’s tenth anniversary iPhone could be called as iPhone X and there will two other models dubbed as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Leaks suggest that iPhone X might feature energy efficient OLED screen, while the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is said to come with an LCD panel.
The iPhone X is widely anticipated to undergo radical design changes, with bezel-less display, glass front and rear body, no home button and slight cut-out at top for sensors & front facing camera. The Touch ID sensor is said to be replaced with a 3D facial recognition scanner. The handset will feature a A11 Fusion six-core chip and carry vertically stacked dual rear camera.
The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are tipped to come with 3GB of RAM. Apple iPhone 8 is said to feature a 4.7-inch LCD display while the iPhone 8 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display. The iPhone X is said to cost around $1000 making it the most expensive device. The phone is also said to support wireless charging.
Apple Watch
Alongside its upcoming iPhone series, Apple is expected to announce Apple Watch 3 series which will most likely feature LTE (Long-Term Evolution) connectivity. The next-gen Apple Watch may directly connect to the cellular network without relying on Apple iPhone. The new Apple Watch is tipped to offer in at least two new colours- a grey ceramic and a blush gold colour option.
Apple TV
The next-generation Apple TV might likely add support for 4K and HDR video streaming. The updated 4K TV Apple set-top-box is suggested to feature a faster A10X processor to manage high-resolution video. The A10X is the same powerful chip packed inside the new iPad Pro paired with 3GB of RAM.
Apple AirPods
Besides the naming of the iPhone models, Smith also spotted a small reference to Apple’s new AirPods. This time around the new AirPods might get a fresh look including an ‘LED charging bar’ on the case.
Apple iMac Pro, iOS 11, HomePod
It’s not just the new Apple products that will be unveiled at the September 12 event. The company is expected to announce the release date for iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra. Apple introduced the Siri-integrated HomePod in June this year. The speaker which will ship this fall, the company might provide a few details regarding the functionality of the HomePod at its press event.
The Apple event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on September 12 i.e., at 10.00 AM Pacific Time (10:30 PM IST). If you want to watch the Apple iPhone event live here’s how you can do so.
