Apple next-generation iPhone 8 has been unveiled today at the Apple Special event in Steve Jobs Theater. While the Cupertino tech giant is known for bringing innovative products, this time around it made a major overhaul with its new iPhone, the iPhone X.
This year marks a decade of the original iPhone, which was introduced by Steve Jobs on January 2007. On the occasion of its tenth-anniversary, Apple was highly-anticipated to bring an iconic smartphone and to say it did hold up to what makes company unique in the smartphone arena.
Coming to the iPhone 8, it features a 4.7-inch Retina display with True Tone technology. The phone is powered by Apple’s in-house A11 64-bit Bionic chip which is a six-core processor. The new chip is claimed to be 70 percent faster than the previous A10. The A11 Bionic chip also powers the newly introduced iPhone 8 Plus and the tenth-anniversary iPhone X. The phone offers two storage option- 64GB and 256GB. The new iPhone model boasts glass design at the back.
As for the optics, the iPhone 8 sports a 12-megapixel camera on the rear panel. The primary camera sensor comes with new colour filter, optical image stabilisation. The camera is capable of recording 1080p slow-mo video at 240 fps and 4K video at 60 fps.
The new iPhone 8 has deeply integrated hardware and software for Augmented Reality (AR). It comes with wireless charging support, the first handset from Apple to offer this aspect. The premium iPhone includes Bluetooth 5.0 LTE advanced, fast charging capability under its connectivity suite. To owe a premium smartphone, one has to pay a premium price, and the new iPhone 8 holds the same. The latest iPhone model tags a premium price of $699 for the 64GB version. The new iPhone 8 will be available for pre-order from Friday, September 15 and it will start shipping next week on September 22. It will be available in three colour schemes- Silver, Space Grey and new Gold colour.
