Apple on Tuesday officially unveiled its next-generation iPhone 8 in tandem with iPhone 8 Plus and its tenth-anniversary special edition iPhone X at Steve Jobs Theater in San Jose, California. People in India won’t have to wait longer to see them release in the country time around. Available in 64GB and 256GB storage options, both Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available to in India from September 29 starting Rs 64,000 at Apple Authorised Resellers.
Both the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature a new glass and aluminium design that comes in three colour options: Silver, Space Grey and new Gold colour. Running iOS 11 out of the box, Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus also boast of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD displays respectively. They also offer stereo speakers that are claimed to be up to 25 percent louder.
They offer six cores A11 Bionic chip to work in conjunction with their augmented reality (AR) capabilities. Apple iPhone 8 houses single camera while on iPhone 8 Plus, there’s a dual camera module. First time in all these years, Apple has managed to deliver fast charging in its latest offering.
As far as camera experience is concerned, Apple iPhone 8 houses a 12-megapixel camera with a new ISP (image signal processor) to enable better HDR photos and a new quad-LED dual-tone flash. It can also record 4K videos at 60 frames per second (fps) and 1080p slow-mo at 240 fps. Apple iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, houses dual 12-megapixel cameras.
Commenting on the launch, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, had this to say:
