Apple is claimed to be working on a larger display version of the iPhone 8 and will likely bring three different sizes for the phone. As per a report from DigiTimes, Samsung is going to be the exclusive supplier for AMOLED panels in the flagship iPhone series. The report cites Taiwan-based supply sources for the information.

The report also claims that Apple new iPhones series will have three size options. There will be a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch size iPhones with TFT-LCD panels that Apple has always used. A 5.8-inch screen size with an AMOLED display will make its entry in the new iPhone series hosting a bigger display that is not pitched in any iPhone device yet. According to the supply chain sources global shipments of this bigger iPhone are estimated at 60-70 million units.

Taking the fact that Samsung is going to be its exclusive supplier for AMOLED display, rumors are already surfacing that claim Apple to introduce a version of the iPhone with a dual-curved edge display similar to the S7 Edge or Note 7 smartphone. A report earlier also cited that Apple is cutting production for the iPhone in January-March quarter.

Another from Korean Herald said that Apple will be using Samsung-made curved plastic OLED panels for the iPhone 8. Other reports from the Korean media mentioned that Apple has placed for an order for Samsung to produce curved OLED displays in millions. The curved, plastic OLED display might likely be enfolded around edges to create a bezel-less design for the new iPhone series.

Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple’s notable analyst in his past report said that the new iPhone 8 will feature an all-glass body and that the Cupertino based company will likely opt for an OLED display. He further added that iPhone 8 will sport a wireless charging system like the one used on Apple iWatch. He said that the expected glass body of the new iPhone 8 will help achieve faster speed in wireless charging with ‘minimum disruption from the frequency interference.’

Apple’s flagship iPhone 8 will be the tenth anniversary iPhone, the first iPhone being introduced in the year 2007. The Cupertino giant will likely reveal the new iPhone 8 in fall of this year.
