Apple, in the recent past, quietly snuck a new iPhone into the Indian market. Well, not new per se, but new-ish nonetheless. It’s the iPhone 6 32GB that we’re talking about. If you’re wondering why we’re calling this a ‘new’ phone, then here’s the simple explanation – with the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple scrapped the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus, and the phones that were available were the iPhone SE, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus (with revamped memory options as 32GB, 128GB and 256GB) and the latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Hence, we were surprised when the iPhone 6 popped back up on Amazon – we were sure that that this wasn’t just old stock clearance because it is now a 32GB variant, sitting nicely in a mid-range spot at a price of Rs 30,700 (and a discounted price of Rs 28,999).
The good news today is that the ‘new’ iPhone 6 32GB has begun being available on offline channels too, such as Apple’s premium resellers. We called up a few Apple resellers in NCR, and found out that a few of them have already started stocking up the iPhone 6S 32GB at their stores. A few of the stores confirmed that while they have not started selling this model yet, they will start doing that in about a couple of days as they’re waiting for stocks to arrive.
With a growing offline sales network, Apple clearly wants to tap a very hot price segment – the Rs 25,000-Rs 30,000 one. This segment is populated by some bestsellers such as the OnePlus 3T, which, by the way, is only available on Amazon.
The iPhone 6 32GB is comes with an Apple A8 processor, and a 4.7-inch display, but no 3DTouch. For that feature, you’ll have to buy the iPhone 6s, which is listed for Rs 40,992 on Amazon for the 32GB variant.
