Amazon on Tuesday launched its new advanced Amazon Kindle, the Kindle Oasis. The all-new Kindle is the first to get waterproofing that comes with IPX8 rating. The new device also features a high-resolution Paperwhite display with a pixel density of 300ppi.
The Oasis Kindle is relatively thin and has light ergonomic design comfortably fitting in a user’s hand. This time around Amazon has put a seven-inch form factor on its new Kindle. The company says that the Kindle Oasis fits over 30 percent more words making it less cumbersome to turn pages frequently. The device has dedicated page turn buttons and the display can automatically rotate the page orientation.
The 3.4mm thin display is accommodated with a cover glass and new aluminium design at the back. The new Kindle Oasis is designed to withstand water splash be it at the pool, beach. And with the IPX8 rating, it is claimed to protect the device against immersion in up to two meters in water for up to one hour. The Oasis has the brightness screen compared to its previous iteration with 12 LED onboard.
The Kindle Oasis comes in two storage options- 8GB and goes all the way up to 32GB. Amazon has added few tweaks to the software, including new font size, interpolate the font with bold. It also offers a feature to invert black and white on the display in case of light sensitivity. The device has built-in ambient sensors and text alignment can be adjusted for a “ragged” right side spacing out the text to keep the margins neat. The Kindle Oasis also support company’s proprietary files along with TXT, PDF, MOBI and PRC.
As far as pricing is concerned, the new Oasis comes at a cost of Rs. 21,999 for the 8GB model meanwhile, the 32GB version (WiFi+ free 3G) has been priced at Rs. 28,999. The device is already available for pre-order from October 11 at amazon.in/kindleoasis and it will start shipping from November 13.
