Alcatel on Wednesday launched its entry-level smartphone, the Alcatel U5 HD in India. The handset has been priced in the at Rs. 5,999 and it is available for booking exclusively on e-commerce portal Flipkart. The former French global telecom equipment company officially introduced this budget smartphone late August this year.
An upgrade to the Alcatel U5, the smartphone features a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The Alcatel U5 HD is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 processor. The RAM/storage on the Indian variant is slightly bumped up compared to the global variant. The U5 HD offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB native storage with an expandable option of up to 128GB using microSD card.
As far as the camera is concerned, the Alcatel U5 HD sports a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. At the front, it gets an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash support to capture better images in low light situation. The camera app offers a slew of features like Instant Collage, Face Mask, Face Show, Selfie Album and Face Beauty. It packs a 2200mAh battery that is rated to offer 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. The Alcatel U5 HD runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Design-wise, it features a textured finish rear panel with alcated branding printed below the primary camera. The volume keys and power button are placed on the right edge of the device. Connectivity options on the phone include- MicroUSB 2.0 port, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The smartphone is 8.9mm thick and weighs 129 grams.
