Alcatel brought the Alcatel U5 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in late February this year. The company has now launched the Alcatel U5 HD which is said to be an upgrade of the U5 smartphone.
Specifications wise, the Alcatel U5 HD retains the 5-inch IPS LCD panel like the one in the U5 smartphone but with a slightly higher resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of native storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. The smartphone runs Android Nougat out-of-the box.
In terms of design, the Alcatel U5 HD features a textured finish back panel. The volume keys and power button are placed on the right edge of the device. Around back, there is a single camera module at the centre with LED flash right below. Up front, it has capacitive buttons, a front facing camera sensor with LED flash alongside. There is a micro-USB 2.0 port located at the base of the smartphone.
As for the optics, the Alcatel U5 HD sports an 8-megapixel rear sensor (interpolated to 13-megapixel) with AF and LED flash. At the front, it gets a 5-megapixel camera (interpolated to 8-megapixel) with LED flash for better selfies in low light situation. The front camera also offers a bunch of features that include- Instant Collage, Face Mask, Face Show, Selfie Album and Face Beauty. The phone packs a 2200mAh battery that is rated to offer 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
The Alcatel U5 HD will be available in two colour options- White and Black. Pricing and availability of the new Alcatel handset, however, has not been mentioned on the official site.
