Bharti Airtel is amongst the top telecom providers in India, and today it has announced that it will be starting Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) services across the whole of Maharashtra and Goa. Previously Airtel VoLTE was only available in some parts of Maharashtra specifically Mumbai. The company says that the VoLTE calling services will help the customers to make calls in HD quality and will have a much faster call set up time.
Rohit Marwha, Chief Executive Officer – Maharashtra & Goa, Bharti Airtel said,
“We are delighted to launch VoLTE and add yet another service to our portfolio enabling customers to make the most of their mobile phone experience on our world-class 4G network across Maharashtra and Goa. With VoLTE, customers can now enjoy seamless and high quality voice calls on our robust 4G network.”
The company initially launched the service in Mumbai and has recently started to expand to other states like Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh. The services can be used on all the popular 4G LTE enabled smartphones with the help of the Airtel 4G SIM card. If there is a case where 4G services aren’t available then the calls will automatically switch to using the 3G/2G network. The company has also said that the users will be able to continue using the data on the 4G network while a call is in progress. Additionally, the customers won’t be billed extra for the calls made on VoLTE.
