The ongoing tussle between the leading telecom operators in India took an exciting turn in the last fortnight of 2017 when Jio launched their Happy New Year 2018 plans. Prior to that, Airtel used to reign supreme in the 2GB daily data segment courtesy of their Rs 349 plan. But Jio changed the game by offering the same benefits for Rs 299.
Airtel continues to have a winner on their hands with a 3GB daily data plan at Rs 549 plan. While we expected Jio to extend their aggressive mood to the 3GB daily data plan segment and beyond, they haven’t done any of that yet. As a result, they have let the competition score another point over them.
Airtel Rs 799 plan now offers 3.5GB data per day with a validity of 28 days. As a result, users end up benefiting from a total of 98GB high-speed 4G data. Jio Rs 799 plan, on the other hand, still offers 3GB daily data for 28 days with a total of 84GB in the stipulated period. That’s how Airtel ends up providing 14GB more data than Jio for the same price.

Both Airtel Rs 799 and Jio Rs 799 plans offer unlimited local, STD and roaming calls. But when it comes to SMS, Jio offers free, unlimited SMS whereas Airtel restricts users to 100 SMS per day.
Yet another win for Airtel in this segment may not sit well with the folks at Reliance. So expect Jio to revise its existing Rs 799 plan in the coming days to attract more users. Jio also has a Surprise Cashback offer running for Prime customers until January 15. Here’s how to claim the benefits up to Rs 3300.
