Highlights

    • Airtel rollover offer is limited to postpaid users
    • Up to 200GB is eligible to be carried forward
    • Data will be lost upon changing plans at all

One of the major Indian telecom operators Bharti Airtel made a few promises last month. In what could be the first of its kind “The Rollover Promise” announced last month, customers will no longer lose unused data at the end of the month. The offer has been live for all Airtel postpaid subscribers starting today. So customers can now make use of their unused data from the previous billing cycle. Interestingly, some customers got this offer working earlier.

Airtel has made it clear the data rollover offer is limited to postpaid subscribers and yet to announce for prepaid or broadband customers. All Airtel postpaid connections (including both personal or corporate) benefit from this offer. In the event users have opted for 5GB of data per month out of which only 2GB is consumed, the leftover 3GB of data will be carried forward automatically to the next billing cycle without any customer care intervention.

According to terms and conditions, data accumulation from the previous month is capped at 200GB. Meaning, only up to 200GB of unused data from the previous month is eligible to be carried forward to next month. Additionally, customers will lose all the accumulated data in the event of a plan change at all. Customers can keep track of their data usage in addition to how much data has been carried forward to the next billing cycle using MyAirtel app.

The rollover offer works with the family plan so that other members can make use of the accumulated data. Airtel’s ‘The Family Promise’ allows customers to create customised family plans by adding multiple connections to their account. This way, postpaid customers are eligible for up to 20% off on total amount. Additionally, data benefits can also be shared across all connections.

Airtel announced ‘Project Next’ last month, which is telco’s digital wing aimed at simplifying the overall customer experience in addition to making it more interactive and transparent. Airtel also announced Next-Gen Stores, some of which are already live in Gurugram. They are aiming to enhance the overall customer experience when it comes to interacting with the company in-person.
