Various telecom service providers like Reliance Jio and Airtel are providing cashback on new smartphones to their users. Now, Airtel has partnered with Lenovo under its ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative to offer Rs 2,000 cashback on three of its smartphones, two being from company’s sub-brand Motorola.
The company is offering the Moto C, Moto E4 and Lenovo K8 Note smartphones under the scheme. To be eligible for the cashback users will have to recharge their smartphones with minimum Airtel Rs 169 pack, which offers 1GB of daily 4G data, 100 SMSes per day and unlimited calling benefits for 28 days on these smartphones.
“We are delighted to partner with Airtel in the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, as it opens a world of limitless possibilities for the consumers. It is a great opportunity for Airtel subscribers to upgrade to 4G and enjoy the meaningful experiences across Motorola & Lenovo smartphones”,
said Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director at Motorola Mobility India and Lenovo MBG India.
However, there’s a catch as usual, as the users need to achieve a cumulative recharge value of Rs 3,500 in the first 18 months to get a cashback of Rs 500. After that users would have to achieve another cumulative recharge value of Rs 3,500 in the next 18 months to get the balance Rs 1,500. These conditions are similar to the Airtel offer on Nokia phones.
The catch is that the Rs 169 pack will only accumulate approximately Rs 3,211 at the end of 18 months, which leaves the users short of Rs 289 to be eligible for the cashback. The same goes for the next 18 months. So be sure to recharge a bit extra every few months if you wish to claim your cashback reward.
Under this offer, the Moto C will come with an effective price of Rs 3,999, the Moto E4 will effectively cost Rs 6,499 and finally, the Lenovo K8 Note will come with an effective price of Rs 10,999. However, add Rs 2,000 to all of these amounts, as that is what you will end up paying initially when you get these new handsets.
