The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) is available in one variant in India.

Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage Price – Rs 32,990

Samsung launched the smartphone in two colour variants – Black and Gold in India. We got the Black unit for our review. The device on an overall basis, factoring in the specifications, user experience and design, feels a bit over-priced, as it is out-shined by the competition in several aspects. However, it does have a few redeeming qualities of its own.

Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018)

Considering the specifications, the device did perform as anticipated in most of the tests, However, I was surprised when we got to the image editing test, as the device could edit and push out a RAW render without any difficulties. The front camera was great and the Live Focus feature did come handy. But, the rear camera is where the device drops the ball. The rear camera works perfectly fine in well-lit conditions, however, in lower lighting you seem to get an oil painting instead of a proper image. The image might look fine when not zoomed in, however, when you zoom in, you will see the quality deteriorate.

The device has an overall good build and design, and the specifications are also decent. However, the price is where I hesitate in recommending this to you. Had it been around Rs 25,000, I would have recommended it to one and all straight away. However, at its current price point of Rs 32,990, competitors like OnePlus 5T and Honor View 10 have more to offer. Still, if you were to go ahead and buy this smartphone, I would recommend getting the black variant.
