OnePlus 5T Review

oneplus-5t

OnePlus 5T is the company’s latest flagship smartphone in the market, and with each passing day, I wonder whether it was absolutely necessary for OnePlus to upgrade its flagship standard at this point. I’ll dig deeper into it in a while but before I do, I must recall everything OnePlus got absolutely right with the previous flagship OnePlus 5 and how it differs from OnePlus 5T.

Hence, needless to say, you are going to see a lot of comparisons between the two in the subsequent sections. But that is bound to happen when the company decides to release a new flagship smartphone with no massive changes over its predecessor, especially in less than 6 months. Of course, there are a few changes here and there, but they are not as major as I was expecting from a new OnePlus flagship.

But all that aside, the fact remains OnePlus 5T is a separate offering from the company, and I put it under our standard tests and performance benchmarks. So here’s everything I found about the handset during my usage.

OUR VERDICT

OnePlus 5T is a powerhouse for sure, and it has got a lot of things right at such an attractive price tag. The combination of powerful hardware and seamless, intuitive software completes OnePlus 5T. Sure, the design is similar to OnePlus 5 and it isn’t a major upgrade over its predecessor except for the minimal bezel display. It tries to mimic Apple iPhone X’s Face ID unlock feature with its own unique bells and whistles of software, and that works. I liked it. The design could have been better and the camera quality, though pretty good, could have been a notch or two higher. But at the end of the day, the list of what you get at that price point far outweighs what you don’t. So there is no reason why one shouldn’t buy this smartphone unless you already own a OnePlus 5.
